OUR STORY

At Perfectly Hued, we celebrate diversity, praise individuality, and are passionate about all of the unique cultures, nationalities, and hues around us.

We’d love to tell you a little more about ourselves. One-half of the Perfectly Hued ownership consists of Latisha; card connoisseur, mother, and kind soul. The other half is me, Kateena; mother, wife of 27 years to my best friend, and Desert Storm Veteran. The idea of Perfectly Hued goes back over 2 decades to my own daughter, Jabreyl, who is now in her 20’s and a law student at Howard University School of Law.

As my daughter was growing up, I remember often wondering, “Where are the cards that look like my daughter, her friends, my nieces, nephews, and family friends?”

Perfectly Hued is here to set a new standard for the greeting card industry by providing the options to explore the individual hues of us all. From soft porcelain complexions, honey-hued and mocha shades, to rich dark chocolates, we strive to ensure visibility and representation of all skin tones, as well as all other features that make us all different, beautiful, and set us apart.

Created with my business partner, Latisha, we’ve set out to fix the problem of a lack of diversity in greeting cards.

With our aunt and niece-esque friendship of over a decade, one thing that has always stuck out to me about Latisha is her respectful, warm-hearted nature, even when her life is at its busiest. From birthdays to holidays, she has always surprised me with her thoughtful cards.

Now, also a mother of an adorable little girl, Sydney, Latisha is currently in the “birthday club” that I found myself in so many years ago...where there are hundreds of greeting card options available, but none that truly capture the essence of our unique and beautiful loved ones. This was yet another inspiration to us when creating Perfectly Hued; by celebrating all of our HUES, we have set out to fill the lack of representation and visibility that is currently and surprisingly present in such a large industry.

Our goal is to create what was missing from the greeting card industry for all these years and to essentially be the change we wish to see. We are so grateful that you have chosen to embark on this journey with us.

As Maya Angelou said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”
